Goa casino operator asking for government help to counter coronavirus slump

The operator behind three of the six floating casinos in Goa has reportedly called on the government to provide his firm with financial assistance so that it may better weather the downturn brought on by the coronavirus pandemic.

Casino Pride Group is responsible for the riverboat-based Casino Pride, Casino Pride II and Casino Paradise venues but was forced to temporarily shutter these enterprises on March 15 as part of a government-led campaign to counter the spread of the potentially-deadly ailment.

Shrinivas Naik from Casino Pride Group has now penned a letter to officials in New Delhi asking that they help firms such as his by granting them a three-year income tax holiday alongside a six-month waiver on business loan interest charges. The executive also purportedly called on the government to provide operators with free electricity and Internet access for the next six months and cover all employee pension contributions for the duration of the nation’s coronavirus-related lockdown.

Naik’s letter reportedly read…

“In order to reduce the overall cost of operations and increase funds for disposal in the hands of the industry, the government should provide tax holidays for at least three years beginning from [the first day of April].”

The communication from Naik reportedly moreover urged the government to ‘allow the industry to pay a minimum sustenance allowance to employees during the lockdown period and the post-lockdown period of six months’ and require such workers until April of next year to stay in their current posts for at least six months.

It was further divulged that the six boats once home to Goa’s casinos have sat empty along the banks of the Mandovi River ever since the implementation of the lockdown. The source furthermore cited the southwestern state’s Chief Minister, Pramod Sawant, as recently divulging that his government has no immediate plans to allow these venues to re-open.

WeAreCasino expands footprint in India via integration deal with WooHoo Games

Portuguese online casino gaming company WeAreCasino has inked a content integration deal with British newcomer WooHoo Games that will expand its business in India.

The new collaboration will see the London-headquartered developer’s “must-have” portfolio of random number generator (RNG) games, most notably its Indian-themed titles such as Cricket Kings, Teen Patti and Andar Bahar, go live with WeAreCasino.

A dynamic and fast-growing aggregator in the iGaming industry, the Lisbon and Malta-based firm has in a brief period of time managed to establish partnerships with some of the top operators and games suppliers.

In an official press release, Head of Business Development for Woohoo, Ed Whittington explained the significance of its RNG games…

“In the initial explosion of the online era, businesses pored over customer loyalty – creating websites that the customer stayed with for long periods of time. We don’t think this is a dated concept but rather one that’s crucial for the success of any business, and a concept on which we have built the foundations of how we work.

“In RNG games, the content has often been seen as disposable and turnover of content, as a result, was very quick. We wanted to create games that players not only enjoy, but also become loyal to, and bring this back as a considered focus in the industry. The fact that growing aggregators in the industry such as WeAreCasino are integrating our games, we hope, shows operators that Woohoo are a ‘must-have’ portfolio of games.” Unquote..

Founded in 2019, WooHoo Games is a newcomer in terms of games suppliers. The company has developed products based on the RNG game experience that in addition to benefitting the operator, more importantly, “offer an immersive, fun game to the player.” According to the British company, this distinct user experience has brought about a player loyalty rarely seen with RNG games.

Also commenting on the strategic integration, Head of Sales for WeAreCasino, Marko Jelen, said…

“Adding the Woohoo Games content on our aggregating platform was a natural step in our expanding business in India. With their RNG Indian themed titles such as Andar Bahar, Teen Patti and Cricket Kings this will for sure boost our numbers there. I’m confident in all their products which offer something fresh and innovative – as did their branded taxis @ICE early this year!” Unquote

India presence: Having established a presence in the lucrative and expanding Indian market, Woohoo has become one of the most significant RNG games providers in the region.

In related news, just a few short months since its launch and online operators Happy Luke, Live Casino House and Empire 777 have added WooHoo’s increasingly popular game suite to their sites. Additionally, within the past few weeks, the developer has added a trio of new games to the RNG market with Caesars Conquest, Racer Babes and Cyberpunk, with more planned over the coming year.

These latest additions to its growing portfolio, focus on a more international footprint, having already established itself as “one of the biggest players in India.”
